Neil Salopek Obituary

Neil S. Salopek, 44, of West Mifflin passed away surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his home on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Neil was born on December 17, 1979 to the late Duane (Duey) and (late) Cindy Salopek. He was raised in West Mifflin (Riverview Homes) with his sister, Nicole (Brandon Nathan) Salopek, where he met his closest friends to this day. Neil was a loving husband to Stefanie (Schlutz) Salopek and a proud father to his beautiful daughters, Lia (16) and Adilee (14). He was the epitome of a “girl dad” and loved to spoil his girls at any cost. Neil was also the fun uncle, always wrestling with his nephews (Jace, Dash, and Cam Nathan).  He will be deeply missed by his wife, daughters, sister, and nephews, but his will to provide and lead for them will never be forgotten.

As one of the first employees at FEI (Field Environmental Instruments), Neil was an integral part of developing the company. His work ethic was admirable, and he built many lasting relationships in his 25 years with the business. When Neil wasn’t working, he spent his time on the softball field as coach and role model. His softball family was near and dear to his heart and he never gave up battling for them.

Neil is also survived by his grandma, Jane (Bitkowski) Breznay and preceded in death by his grandfather, Francis “Braz” Breznay and Helen (Lesko) Salopek, along with his uncles: Uncle Ted, Uncle Denny, and Uncle Dave. He also had a close knit of friends that were and always will be family to him.

Family and Friends will be received in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne, on Wednesday, January 24th from 2PM until the blessing service at 8PM. A church service will be held on Thursday, January 25th at 10 AM, Christ Lutheran Church, 405 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne. Following the service, a celebration of Neil’s life will be held at the American Croatian Club, 1111 Grant Avenue, Duquesne.

Just like his dad, Neil would always ask, “Who loves you?”. He would want his girls (and you) to know that the only acceptable answer is “You do.”
