Rev. Joseph Grosko Obituary

Rev. Joseph R. Grosko, 87, past away peacefully on January 6, 2020 in Marian Manor Personal Care Home in Pittsburgh. Born in Braddock, March 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Andrew and Susan Grosko. He is survived by three sisters: Ann Pavlan, Elizabeth Rittenberger, and Julie Zuger, also many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers; Andrew and John Grosko, and two sisters; Margaret Baker and Angie Neary. Rev. Grosko was a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War were he served as a Navy Chaplain. Rev. Grosko was ordained into the Diocese of Pittsburgh on May 30, 1959  by Bishop John Wright in St. Paul Cathedral and retired due to health reasons on July 26, 2017. Rev. Grosko was a graduate of St. Vincent College and Seminary. In his 58 years as a priest he served the following parishes; 1959-1964 Saint Albert the Great Parish, Pittsburgh, 1964-1966 Saint Ursula Parish, Allison Park, 1966-1978 Archdioceses for Military Services, Washington D.C., 1978-1981 Our Lady of Loreto Parish, Pittsburgh, 1981-1989 Dioceses of Dumaguete, Philippines, 1989-1992 Children's Hospital of UPMC, Pittsburgh, 1989-1992 Saint Michael Parish, Munhall, 1992-1996 Holy Martyrs Parish, Tarentum, 1996-2002 Resurrection Parish, Pittsburgh, 2002-2017 Holy Trinity Parish, West Mifflin, 2002-2017 Saint Agnes Parish, West Mifflin.  He was also the Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus, Serra Club,Slovak Catholic Sokol and the National Chaplain for First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.

Family and friends will be recieved on Thursday January 9, 2020 from 6-9 PM in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford St., Duquesne and on Friday in Holy Trinity Church (529 Grant Ave. Ext., West Mifflin, PA. 15122) January 10, 2020 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 2PM in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin with Bishop David Zubik celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin.
