Bernard S. “Bernie” Ballough, 87, formerly of Duquesne, died peacefully Sunday, December 15, 2013. Born in Duquesne, August 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Anna Buday Ballough. Bernie was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Duquesne, retired Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Duquesne with over 30 years of service, a retired security guard for Brinton Manor Housing Complex and proudly served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army. Bernie is survived by two brothers, Charles “Gooch” Ballough and Michael Paul (Gloria) Ballough and a sister, Anna (Eddie) Carek, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James (wife Elizabeth survives) Ballough, Phillip Ballough, and Arthur Ballough.
Friends will be received on Tuesday December 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday in St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, (Time to be announced later). Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin.
