Edward A. Carek Sr., 74, of McKeesport, died Monday Sept. 22, 2014 in UPMC McKeesport. Born May 25, 1940, in Duquesne, he was the son of the late Stephen and Anna Bogdonavich Carek. Ed was a retired truck driver for Trinity Industries, a member of the Duquesne American Croation Club, a social member of the White Oak American Legion and a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Duquesne. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Ballough Carek, a son, Edward A. (Hope) Carek Jr., of North Huntingdon, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Carek 9/20/2011, two brothers, Stephen and John Carek and four sisters, Mary Crowe, Anne Lucko, Katie Salopek, and Helen Sanders.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday from 7-9 P.M. and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford & Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. A Blessing service in the Memorial Home will be held on Friday Sept. 26, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 10 A.M. with Rev. Dennis Colamarino and Rev. Thomas Lewandowski celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin.
