George Yanichko, 92, died Oct. 6, 2016 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the Late Vasil and Helen Lesko Yanichko. Born in Duquesne, November 6, 1923. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne.  He was a retired U.S. Steel Corp. employee with 38 yrs. service, Duquesne Works Metallurgical Dept. "He also proudly served his country as a Staff Sargent in the U.S. Marines, South Pacific Theater, During WWII.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Elsie Porter Yanichko, two daughters, Kathy Piskorik and Donna (Bill) Hrabchak, both of Cape Coral, FL, a son David (Kris) Yanichko of West Mifflin, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 great great  grandson, a sister Helen Gasdick of Upland Calif., nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also preceded in Death by two sisters, Ann Gricar and Margaret Durisin; three brothers Frank, Stephen, and Edward Yanichko, son in law Steve, and a grandson, Stevie.
Friends & Family will be received in the Wm. S. Skovranko Memorial Home on Sunday Oct. 9, from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8pm. A Blessing in the Memorial Home on Monday at 9:15am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in SS. Peter  Paul Church, Duquesne with Rev. John Cuccaro as Celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will follow in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, West Mifflin.
