Welcome to the memorial page for

Gwen L. (Davies) Makohus

December 16, 1948 ~ September 7, 2015 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Gwen Louise (Davies) Makohus,66, of Dravosburg (formerly of Duquesne), passed peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2015 surrounded by loved ones.  Daughter of the late William T. and Dorothy (Bashoor) Davies.  An avid collector of angles, she now is one watching over her beloved son, Kraig (Lori) Makohus and her three grandchildren: Emi, Ayden and Evan of Springfield, Virginia.  She will also be watching over her faithful brother, William C. Davies of Munhall, who was by her side every day for the last five years, her loving and dedicated twin sister, Anne (Richard) Miller, and her sister-in-law Marcia (late Edward) Davies, both of Duquesne.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Edward and James Davies and her husband, Herman “Butch” DeVinzio.  She is also dearly loved and survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gwen entered the world on December 16, 1948 at McKeesport Hospital, worked at McKeesport Hospital for 38 years in the Dietary Department (over 20 years in management), and left her earthly body at McKeesport Hospital.  She was a member of Teamsters Local 205.  Her life could be summarized with the words, commitment and simplicity.  Commitment in her love for her family and friends.  Commitment to work and her co-workers and those she supervised.  Simplicity in that she loved routine and the peace that it brought.  She worked for McKeesport Hospital for over 35 years, lived in the same house for over 35 years and vacationed many years at the same location in Myrtle Beach.   Always there for support and guidance, Gwen was a loving mother and caring sister and will be missed.  She made a lasting impact on all that knew her and her wisdom and lessons will carry on in those who knew and loved her.
At her request, there will be no visitation and a private memorial celebration will be held at a later date.  Professional Services and Arrangements have been entrusted to WILLIAM S. SKOVRANKO MEMORIAL HOME, Richford & Commonwealth Ave, Duquesne.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to a charity of your choice.
