John A. Axelson

John A "Sonny" Axelson, 73, of West Mifflin died peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at home in the company of his loving family. Born December 9, 1946 in McKeesport, he was the son of the Late Arthur and LaRue Robis Axelson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 yrs, Pat Gastrock Axelson, his most cherished daughter, Heather D. (Jason) Bonacci, Joseph Axelson, and Erikka Dunmeyer, a brother, Dennis W. (Lorrie) Axelson, six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and nieces & nephews. He was a member of Homeville Christian Church, West Mifflin, a retired employee of Bettis Atomic Lab, West Mifflin, a 1965 graduate of Schwab Vocational School in Homestead, and a 1967 graduate of Western Pennsylvania School of Technology. He also enjoyed gardening, hunting, the Steelers and fishing at Twin Lakes Park.

Friends & family will be received on Wednesday, February 19 from 2-4 & 6-9pm and Thursday, Feb.20 from 9:30 - 10:30am in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford St. Duquesne, PA. Funeral Services will be offered in Homeville Christian Church on Thursday at 11am with Pastor David Shively officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, Pleasant Hills.
