John F. Sovak, 70, of Duquesne, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Born June 6, 1944 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John N. and Bertha V. (Hudak) Sovak. Mr. Sovak was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne, and a retired engineer from U.S. Steel Research Center, Monroeville. He was a graduate of Alderdice High School, class of 1962, and Carnegie Mellon University, class of 1975. He is survived by two brothers, Eugene R. (Marsha) Sovak and Raymond T. Sovak, two nieces, Dr. Lisa Ann Sovak and Christine Marie Sovak, and five cousins, James R. Hudak, Francis R. Hudak, Georgeann Clymer, George E. Sovak, and Joanne (Fred) Conner. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two cousins, Rev. Robert A. Kohuch and Joseph M. Ruszkoski.
Family and friends will be received on Friday from 2-7 P.M. in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. A blessing in the Memorial Home on Saturday at 9 A.M. will be followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. in SS. Peter and Paul Church with Rev. John Cuccaro as celebrant. Burial will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, West Mifflin.
