Joseph Francis Horvath, 93, of West Mifflin passed away on Friday in the comfort of his home as he wished, surrounded by loved ones.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Margaret (Streiff) Horvath for nearly 42 years; the loving father of Katherine Horvath, Margaret (Joe) Wos and Marie (Val) Casciato; and special Pap Pap to William, Lida and Ava Wos. He is also survived by a sister, Agnes Mihelcic, and was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Michael, and four siblings, Mary, Stephen, Anna and Michael Horvath.
Joseph was a good man, happiest tending to his sprawling garden and watching his daughters, and later grandchildren, grow. He was a true Renaissance handyman, known even in his old age for climbing and fixing roofs, cutting down trees, catching garden-infiltrating critters by hand and picking blooms for his true love.
There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin. Burial with military honors will be private. Special thanks to Catholic Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice or in Joseph's name to Seraphic Mass Association, Mission Office, 3600 Butler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201.
