Mary G. (Bofo) Downie

Mary G. (Bofo) Downie, 92, of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully at home, on Sunday, January 6, 2013.  Born September 6, 1920, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late Crescenzo and Mary Mastascusa Bofo and the beloved wife of the late Leo Downie.  She was a member of Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin, the Marian Guild, and the Happy Hour Club of Resurrection Church, of which she organized many of the club’s field trips. Mrs. Downie was the loving mother of two daughters; Mary Lou (Jim) Maxwell of West Mifflin and Nancy Downie (Bob Staney) of Delmont.  She is also survived by a sister, Jennie Stafura of Illinois (formerly of Pittsburgh), four grandchildren, Gina (Tom) Caito, Robin Maxwell (Vanessa Suncine), Jackie (Doug) Allen and Michelle (Mike) Devlin; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2-9 P.M. on Tuesday in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. A Blessing in the Memorial Home on Wednesday at 10 A.M. will be followed by Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 A.M. in Resurrection Church with Rev. David Schorr as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery, Munhall.
