Stephen G. Uhren, Age 88, of North Huntingdon, PA, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at his home. Steve was born August 15, 1924 in Duquesne, PA. He is the son of the late George Uhren, and Elisabeth Simko Uhren. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Eismont Uhren, and second wife, Nancy Davis Uhren; and brothers, George Uhren, Nicholas Uhren and sister Mary Rektorik. Steve was a retired lineman who was employed by US Steel, a member of St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Duquesne, PA, the VFW and American Legions of Duquesne, PA. He was also a US Army veteran of World War II, Pacific Theater where he participated in campaigns in the southern Philippines, and Ryukyus Islands. He was awarded the Purple Heart during the Battle of Leyte. Steve also served with the second Army Combat Infantry during the Korean War.Steve loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. After he retired he enjoyed woodworking and building cabinetry. He is survived by his brother Michael and wife Helen of West Mifflin, several loving nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Family and Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford & Commonwealth Aev., Duquesne. A Blessing in the Memorial Home on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 9:15 A.M. will be followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Ss. Peter & Paul Church with Rev. John Cuccaro as celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, West Mifflin.
