Steve Kovatch, 97, of Allison Park, formerly of Duquesne, died peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2016. Born in East McKeesport, August 30, 1918, he was the son of the late Steve and Regina (Lovash) Kovatch. Mr. Kovatch was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin, a retired employee of U.S. Steel Corp., Duquesne Works Electric Furnace Department, and a proud U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Husband of the late Margaret Balombiny and the late Virginia Claypool, he is survived by a daughter Janet Grace (Greg) Kunkel of Gibsonia; a son, Paul Robert Kovatch of Anaheim, California; four grandchildren, Angie Thompson of Allison Park, Robert Kovatch of South Park, John Kovatch of California, and Mary Margaret Kunkel of Gibsonia; and two great grandchildren, Kora Kovatch and John Gregory Thompson.
Friends and family will be received from 2-6 on Thursday March 10, 2016 in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. A Blessing will be offered on Friday at 9 a.m.in the Memorial Home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Sweeney as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin.
